After high school, Ro-Lew attended California State University, Chico, where he majored in Liberal Studies. During his freshman year, he began producing music, making low-budget demos on a dual tape-deck stereo. His friends, Dan and Will, often borrowed his demos to play at parties. Unbeknownst to Ro-Lew, Dan's older brother was a music producer in the Bay Area, and he would later attend school there, as well. Some of his demos were passed to the producer, who liked what he heard and decided to help Ro-Lew get more exposure. That week they went to a local party where the Big Heav was deejaying. Ro-Lew performed and the crowd loved it. This was an exciting night, and it would mark the beginning of his career.
At this time (mid-1990s), there was no real hip-hop music of note coming from the Chico area. Recognizing a niche for these kinds of performances, Ro-Lew formed a company that included other artists, radio personalities, and producers, calling it Jump Out Entertainment. More than a decade and a half later, hip-hop is thriving in Chico, primarily due to the trailblazing efforts of Jump Out Entertainment.
Ro-Lew began to make a name for himself, appearing on the covers of local & regional magazines. He also worked as a deejay for KZFR 90.1 and KMJC 107.9. The radio station was a tremendous resource for the company and for Ro-Lew's career, providing a platform from which to play music, announce parties, and record live from freestyle battles.
Today, Ro-Lew's music has appeared on seventeen CDs, and he has released scores of songs, including "Use Your Mind," "Vineyards," "12345," "Celebrate," and "Put Your Mind To It." He has also appeared in a couple of movies and hosts a fishing show on YouTube, called "Kasmasters." Ro-Lew is an Army veteran who served his country for three years after college.
